OF YOUR CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE DURING THE 2025 TO 2026 SCHOOL YEAR. WE CALL THIS COMMITTEE THE C.A.C. MIKE MICH MIKE IS HERE TO REPRESENT THE STUDENT MEMBERS. THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PAST YEAR, THE MEMBERSHIP THIS YEAR WAS FANTASTIC.OUR MEMBERS WERE A DYNAMIC GROUP OF 20 PARENTS, GUARDIANS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND EIGHT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
OUR CALENDAR OF MONTHLY MEETING WAS SET AT THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND THIS HELPED US HAVE A GREAT ATTENDANCE RECORD.
WE MET AND COLLABORATED WITH AT LEAST 20 DIFFERENT C.C.P.SUSPECT CENTRAL LEADERS AND STAFF.
IN EACH MEETING C.C.P.S. STAFF DELIVERED A DETAILED AND THOUGHTFUL PRESENTATION ON A FOCUSED TOPIC.
SUCH TOPICS OFTEN APPEAR IN PUBLIC BOARD MEETINGS SUCH AS THIS ONE. BUT THE CAC MEETING ALLOW FOR A CAUAL ATMOSPHERE AND EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AMONGST COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS. THE STAFF WAS ALWAYS INCREDIBLY THEIR REWHEN ASSISTING THE MEMBERS TO UNDERSTAND THE SIZE, COMPLEXITY, STANDARDS AND PRIORITIES OF OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM.
SOME OF THE LARGER TOPICS THIS YEAR INCLUDED THE C.C.P.S. BUDGET, THE BLUEPRINT FOR MARY'S FUTURE, COLLEGE READINESS AND PATHWAYS AND M.T.S.S. AND THE PAN PANARANA SCREENER. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK FOR THIS YEAR'S EFFICIENCY STUDY AS WELL AS PARTICIPATE IN C.C.P.S.'SANNUAL ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE.
ALL MEMBERS APPRECIATED THE AMOUNT.

OBVIOUSLY WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE ACADEMIC STRENGTH OF OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE OFFICIAL STEWARDSHIP OF THE RESOURCES.
WE ARE RANKED NUMBER ONE IN THE STATE FOR THE NUMBER OF PURPLE STAR SCHOOLS. I BELIEVE WE ARE THE ONLY DISTRICT WITH 100% PURPLE STAR. NUMBER ONE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ART. IF YOUR STUDENTS WILL EXCEL, THAT IS SUBJECT BUILD VERY PROUD OF.
94% GRADUATION RATE. 87% OF STUDENTS HAVE EARNED INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS THAT IS MORE THAN 30 POINTS HIGHER THAN THE STATE AVERAGE. AND WHEN WE LOOK AT THE REPORT, WE ARE RANKED NUMBER FOUR IN MARYLAND WITH THE "A" MINUS GRADE AND THEY ARE LOOKING AT SCHOOLS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY SO WE ARE LOOKING TO MOVE FROM "A" MINUS TO HOPEFULLY "A" PLUS.
>> WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE AN EXPERIENCE STAFF, 90% OF TEACHERS ARE RETAINED HERE. WE HAVE 95% OF THE TEACHERS WHO ARE HIGHLY QUALIFIED. 56 OF TEACHER EARNED NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION AND 76 ARE IN THE PIPELINE AND 81% OF TEACHERS HAVE TAUGHT AT LEAST FIVE YEARS IN THE COUNTY AND 64% OVER A DECADE. WITH THE TEACHER SHORTAGE, WE ARE DOING QUITE WELL. OUR FINANCES ARE STRONG.
WE OBVIOUSLY ARE CHALLENGED. THIS WAS SOMEWHAT NEW TO ME THAT IN REAL DOLLARS WE WERE ABOUT $22 MILLION LESS BECAUSE OF THE EXPIRATION OF THE CALVERT CLIFFS PILOT AGREEMENT, A FEW YEARS AGO. NONETHELESS WE MAXIMIZE THE RESOURCES THAT WE HAVE. WE HAD A NUMBER OF RECOGNITIONS HERE JUST A COUPLE OF THEM. ROBIN BURNS, WHO YOU WILL REMEMBER WAS A WASHINGTON TEACH OTHER IF THE YEAR AND DR. SANCHEZ, TEACHER AMERICA AWARD, WHITE HOUSE TEACHER INSTITUTE MASTER TEACHER. AND MS. GONZALEZ-WILSON OF THE "WASHINGTON POST" PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR AND WE STARTED A NEW RECOGNITION, SUPERINTENDENT LIGHTHOUSE AWARD, AND WE WANTS TO RECOGNIZE ALL OF THESE STUDENTS AND STAFF MEMBERS WHO ARE HONORED. WE WANT IS MOVE PAST -- SORRY, THIS CONTINUES TO MOVE ON ITS OWN.
NOT CLICKING BACK AND FORTH. WE WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT WHILE M-CAP IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF MEASURING OUR STUDENT ACADEMIC SUCCESS IT IS ONLY ONE MEASURE AND SNAPSHOT IN TIME.
AND WE HAVE A NUMBER OF INITIATIVES THAT ARE MOVING OUR STUDENTS WELL BEYOND M-CAP SUCH AS OUR LAUNCH THIS YEAR TO EXPAND THE HANDS ON STEM THROUGH THE STEM DAYS PROGRAM.
REAL WORLD LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH OUR CAREER CONNECTIONS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS.
THE EXPANSION OF DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES AND DIGITAL READINESS AND A.I. PREPARATION. PARTS AND ATHLETICS ARE AN IMPORTANT PART. OUR DISTRICT IS BEST COMMUNITY FOR MUSIC EDUCATION, ALSO RECOGNIZES THE PREMIER COMMUNITY FOR THE THEATRE EDUCATION AND FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ATTENDED OUR THEATRE PROGRAM, YOU CAN WELL SEE WHY WE RECEIVE THAT RECOGNITION.
