THE STUDENTS ARE PREPARING TO PASS THE FFA FEDERAL AVIATION ASSOCIATION WRITTEN EXAM , AS THEY TRANSITION TO LEVEL THREE , WHICH INCLUDES 15 HOURS OF PRIVATE ONE-ON-ONE FLIGHT INSTRUCTION AT HERB JONES METRO AVIATION FLIGHT SCHOOL, IN CLINTON, MARYLAND, WITH HOPES TO FLY SOLO SOON AFTER . I WOULD LIKE TO BEGIN BY REFERENCING MARYLAND, REQUIREMENTS AND OUTLINING WHAT THE DISTRICT MUST DO WITH REGARDS TO GRADING PROCEDURES. SPECIFICALLY WE MUST, I'M SURE WE MUST HAVE GRADING PROCEDURES IN PLACE THAT EXPLAIN OUR GRADING SCALE , USED AT BOTH ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY LEVELS , DETAILING OUT FINAL GRADES ARE CALCULATED AND HOW COURSES MAY BE WEIGHTED. THERE WAS AN AWESOME DEMONSTRATION TO EXPLAIN THE -- PHENOMENON, WITHOUT THE CHEMICAL REACTION AND WROTE A WHOLE SCRIPT . WE HAD TO TEST AND CHANGE IDEAS AGAIN AND AGAIN WHICH TAUGHT US PERSEVERANCE AND FLEXIBILITY. WE PICKED UP REAL LIFE SKILLS USING A SEWING MACHINE, DRILL IN A CIRCULAR SAW. ONE OF MY TEAM MATES AND I -- AND IT HELPED US MAKE FRIENDS AND FEEL LIKE WE TRULY BELONG. WE PUSHED OURSELVES AND TRY TO RAISE THE BAR A LITTLE HIGHER. WE WON FIRST PLACE AT THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT AND MADE OUR PROJECT EVEN BETTER AND WON FIRST PLACE IN STATE. AND THEN IN GLOBALS WE PLACED 12TH IN THE WORLD. WE MADE FRIENDS FROM NEW COUNTRIES LIKE UKRAINE. TO PUT THIS IN PERSPECTIVE, THIS YEAR -- MADE IT TO REGIONALS -- GLOBAL FINALS. I HAD FUN TALKING WITH OUR STUDENTS AND HANDING OUT DIPLOMAS, IT WAS A GREAT TIME. LAST NIGHT I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO CALVERT HIGH SCHOOL UNDERCLASSMEN AWARD CEREMONY, WHICH IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE WITH THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS BEING RECOGNIZED AND REWARDED FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS.
LASTLY, JUST BACK TO THE BUDGET VOTE, I APOLOGIZE BUT I CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIOUS VOTE APPROVAL AND I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO ABSORB YET. NOTHING PERSONAL, SCOTT, I HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DIGEST THE INFORMATION ENOUGH TO MAKE AN EDUCATED DECISION AND I APOLOGIZE. THAT IS ALL I GOT.

WE HAD ABOUT 1300 STUDENTS WENT ON TO THE REAL WORLD AND YOU KNOW, I TRY TO CLAP FOR EVERYBODY, OF COURSE THAT IS LIKE NINE CLAPS FOR STUDENT, LIKE 12,000 CLASS, MY HAND IS STILL NUMB BUT JUST BECAUSE THERE WERE ABOUT 18 STUDENTS THAT DID NOT HAVE ANYBODY IN THE AUDIENCE CLAPPED FOR THEM AND I WANTED TO BE THERE TO SUPPORT.
I'M GLAD I COULD DO THAT. THE RETIREMENT DINNER WAS TUESDAY , THAT WAS A GREAT TIME , -- IS MY FRIEND WAS THERE AND THEY ARE GOOD LADIES AND GOOD PEOPLE AND WE HAD 50 PEOPLE ON THE LIST, THINK ABOUT FIVE PEOPLE COULD NOT BE THERE BUT I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT , AN AVERAGE OF ABOUT 30 YEARS PER PERSON AND THAT WAS 1500 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE THAT JUST LEFT US. HOPEFULLY THERE ARE PEOPLE BEHIND HIM THAT WILL FILL IN. I WANT TO ESPECIALLY THANK ALL THE VOLUNTEERS THAT SPEND THEIR TIME TO HELP US AND HELP OUR STUDENTS, THAT IS INCREDIBLE . I DID DI AS A KID AND IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE TOO, SO, YOU BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES. GRADUATIONS WERE AWESOME , I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE STAFF AND ALL THE HARD WORK THEY HAVE PUT IN TO THOSE GRADUATIONS , THE FIFTH-GRADE GRADUATIONS, THE AWARDS, THE KINDERGARTEN GRADUATIONS, ALL OF THE EVENTS , WE HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF GOING TO, IT WILL REALLY JUST WARM YOUR HEART. IT HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY TREMENDOUS AND BEHIND ALL OF IT IS A LOT OF STAFF AND A LOT OF FAMILIES AND JUST A LOT OF LOVE AND IT WAS GREAT AND I HOPE EVERYONE THAT WORKS IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM TAKES A COUPLE OF DAYS OFF IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS. I ALSO JUST WANTED TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO OUR HR TEAM, WHO HAS DONE SUCH A FANTASTIC JOB, THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING REALLY, REALLY HARD. WE HAVE HIRED FOUR ROTC INSTRUCTORS, THREE COUNSELORS , TWO SLPS, TWO WORLD LANGUAGE TEACHERS, ADDITIONAL G.A.T.E. TEACHERS AND A DOZEN PLUS MORE OTHER LICENSED CERTIFICATE EMPLOYEES . THAT IS A LOT OF PEOPLE AND , OH, THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, 70 PEOPLE.
