ALL OF OUR SCHOOL HONOREES WILL BE APPROPRIATELY HONORED AT A BANQUET LATER THIS EVENING.

ON THIS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF AWESOMENESS, I AM HONORED TO BE ABLE TO SHARE A FEW REMARKS AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE CALVERT EDUCATION ASSOCIATION. AND CALVERT COUNTY'S AWESOME TEACHERS OF THE YEAR. I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO CELEBRATE ALL STAFF, AS EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR, EVERY YEAR. BUT ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR.

I RECOGNIZE HOW DIFFICULT THIS YEAR HAS BEEN. WE MAY HAVE RETURNED TO IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION, BUT THIS YEAR HAS BEEN ANYTHING BUT NORMAL FOR YOU.

TEACHERS, YOU ARE DOING AN AMAZING JOB. THE PEOPLE YOU CHOSE TO REPRESENT YOUR SCHOOLS ARE PHENOMENAL EDUCATORS. CALVERT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY ARE SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCH LEADERS IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC EDUCATION. THEY ARE ADVOCATES FOR MENTAL HEALTH, ADVOCATES FOR CEA, ADVOCATES FOR KEEPING DIVERSE BOOKS ON OUR LIBRARY SHELVES. ADVOCATES FOR THEIR STUDENTS, ADVOCATES FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION. ADVOCATES FOR SMALLER CLASS SIZES. FOR THE RELATED ARTS AND EQUITY AND FUNDING.

THEIR STORIES ARE INSPIRING. THEY REMIND US TO LISTEN WITH EMPATHY, BE KIND TO OURSELVES, AND THAT IT'S OKAY TO HAVE AN OOPS. IF I HAD TO PICK ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE ALL OF THIS YEAR'S WINNERS, IT WOULD BE PASSIONATE.

PASSIONATE ABOUT READING AND WRITING, PASSIONATE ABOUT BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS AND WORKING TOGETHER. PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL. ANYONE OF THESE AWESOME TEACHERS WOULD REPRESENT CALVERT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS WELL AS THE 2022 MARYLAND TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR WINNERS AND THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO FOR OUR CHILDREN EVERY

DAY. >> THANK YOU, SO MUCH, DONNA. NOW WE GET TO SEE OUR LAST GROUP OF HONOREES. AND I WILL NOW SHARE MY SCREEN. (NO AUDIO)OKAY.

[00:17:21]

FOR THOSE OF YOU ALL BEING RECOGNIZED TODAY, YOU ARE TRULY A HERO. YOU INSPIRE YOUNG LEARNERS, MOTIVATE YOUR FELLOW CO-WORKERS. CULTIVATE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE STUDENTS CAN THRIVE IN. YOU HAVE IT. YOU ASK WHAT IS IT? YOU HAVE THE UNCANNY ABILITY TO ENGROSS STUDENTS IN YOUR CONTENT, ALLOWING THEM TO EXPLORE, EXPLAIN AND APPLY THEIR LEARNING. IT IS BEING AVAILABLE TO MEET YOUR STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE EACH AND EVERY DAY. IT IS CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE YOU ARE APPROACHABLE BY EVERYONE. IT IS ULTIMATELY BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR LEARNERS AND BEING A PROFESSIONAL. YOUR STUDENTS, YOUR COMMUNITY, OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM ARE LUCKY TO HAVE EACH OF YOU. I SPEAK FOR YOUR ADMINISTRATORS AND SUPERVISORS, THAT WE APPRECIATE YOU. WE WISH EACH OF YOU THE BEST OF
