THE PURPOSE OF THE CALVERT COUNTY SCHOOL FOUNDATION IS TO PROVIDE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF AND THE COMMUNITY TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF EDUCATION PROVIDED BY THE CALVERT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. HERE WITH US TODAY, ARE CALVERT COUNTY SCHOOL FOUNDATION GRANT BOARD MEMBERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, TO PRESENT THE AWARDS FOR THE 2022 RECIPIENTS. PLEASE JOIN ME IN PRECOGNIZING THE FOLLOWING. BUT WE HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF HELPING EDUCATORS BRING THEIR DREAMS TO LIFE IN THEIR SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM. IT WAS BEYOND IMPRESSIVE TO READ THE MANY INNOVATIVE IDEAS THAT WERE SUBMITTED THIS CONSIDERATION FOR THIS YEAR. WE WISH WE WERE ABLE TO FUND THEM ALL. CONGRATULATIONS TO

OUR 21 AND 22 WINNERS. >>THANK YOU MRS. STANDS OUT. IRST IS CONGRATULATIONS TO KASSIDY AILEY, MICHELLE WARD, AND BARSTOW ELEMENTARY FOR RECEIVING $2000 FOR THE FIFTH GRADE ROCCO GARDEN. THE FIFTH GRADE ROCK GARDEN WILL STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY BY ALLOWING STUDENTS TO ENGAGE IN THE DESIGN PROCESS IN OUR CLASS. WHILE WHAT LEARNING ABOUT THEIR PEERS INTERESTS AND CHARACTERISTICS. THE STUDENTS WILL PLACE THE ROCKS IN THE NEWLY CREATED ROCK GARDEN TO SYMBOLIZE THEIR TIME SPENT AT BARSTOW ELEMENTARY. UPON FIFTH GRADE PROMOTION, THE STUDENTS WILL TAKE THEIR PAINTED ROCKS WITH THEM AS A REMINDER OF THEIR BARSTOW EXPERIENCES AND THEIR BARSTOW COMMUNITY. SO, MR. SMITH, I'M GONNA HAVE YOU ON THE SIDE. IMPACTING MOST ALL STUDENTS AT SOUTHERN MIDDLE, THIS PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON THE TIER 1 UNIVERSAL AND PRIMARY PREVENTION USING PBI S. THEY WILL INCREASE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILLS WHILE CREATING A PBI S TOOLBOX. THE GOAL IS FOR STUDENTS TO SHOW RESPECT TO EACH OTHER, HAVING OWNERSHIP OF OF THEIR BEHAVIOR AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND READINESS TO LEARN. ACCEPTING THE REWARD IS JOANNE GAYE AND JAMIE SMITH. IMPLEMENTING PROCEDURES STATED IN RELEVANT PART THAT QUOTE SEE CPS WILL ENSURE THE IDEAS INTERESTS, AND CONCERNS OF ITS STAKEHOLDERS ARE CONSIDERED AND VALUED IN DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES THE INPUT AND THE INPUT AND INVOLVEMENT ARE SAW AND ENCOURAGED FROM A BROAD SPECTRUM OF THE DIVERSE COMMUNITY. INDEED, THE LAST, SAT HERE, I INFORMED THE BOARD OF SERIOUS ISSUES REGARDING THE LEGALITY OF ADOPTING PRACTICES THAT OVERTLY FAVOR ONE PROTECTED CLASS OF STUDENTS OVER ANOTHER. AND WARNED THAT FAILURE TO LISTEN TO COMMUNITY CONCERNS BY LITIGATION THEREBY PUTTING FISCAL RESOURCES AT RISK. LITIGATION HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN INITIATED WHEN IT COULD'VE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE BOARD HAD ONLY BEEN WILLING TO MEANINGFULLY LISTEN. THE DEBATE CENTERS LARGELY IN EQUITY POLICY 1015, WHICH REVOLVES AROUND DEDICATION TO QUOTE ELEVATING ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL. FOR ALL.

AND THAT IS ASSUMING THE SUPERINTENDENT DOESN'T GIVE SLOTS WAY TO SPEAKERS THAT COINCIDENTALLY ARE IDEOLOGICALLY ALIGNED WITH AGENDA. THE MORE IN TELLING AND EQUITY COMES FROM THE SECOND CONCERN. ACCORDING TO THE BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS AND 2020, 71.2 PERCENT OF WOMEN WITH CHILDREN UNDER AGE 18 PARTICIPATED IN THE WORKFORCE.

WHILE THE PERCENTAGE WAS 92.3 FOR MEN. THESE STATS COMPELLINGLY DEMONSTRATE THAT A SUPERMAJORITY OF SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN LIVE IN HOUSES WITH WORKING PARENTS. THIS ISN'T NEWS. AND IT SHOULD BE KNOWN TO PUBLIC OFFICIALS. THE INEQUITABLE ÃTHIS YEAR WE ARE.

DURING THE BUSINESS THEY ARE YET AND OF THE PUBLIC BOARD MEETING. THE INEQUITABLE TREATMENT OF PARENTS THAT MUST WORK DOES NOT SQUARE WITH THE EQUITY POLICY 1015.

ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I AM NOT BE ENOUGH TO HAVE A JOB THAT AFFORDS ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE TIME OFF ON A THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND PROVIDE THE BOARD THE BENEFIT OF SOME CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. MANY ARE NOT SO LUCKY. THE LEAST EQUIPPED PARENTS TO ADJUST THE WORK SCHEDULES ARE THOSE THAT LOWER INCOME LEVELS. THE IS A WELL DOCUMENTED FACT THAT LOWER INCOME LEVELS TEND TO BE CORRELATED TO PROTECTED AND MINORITY GROUPS. WHETHER INTENDED OR NOT, THE EFFECT OF THE BOARD SCHEDULING PRACTICES IS TO MATERIALLY INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF LOWER INCOME MINORITY PARENTS BEING ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN PUBLIC BOARD MEETINGS. I URGE THE BOARD TO STOP CATERING TO THE PRIVILEGED ELITE. AND TO INSTEAD REMOVE THESE NOT-SO-SUBTLE STRUCTURAL BARRIERS, WHICH CURTAIL THE QUANTUM AND DIVERSITY OF PARENT PARTICIPATION AT PUBLIC BOARD MEETINGS. AND ASSESSING THE REPEATED APPEAL TO THE BOARD, TO BE REASONABLY ÃTHIS I WILL CLOSE BY STATING THAT THE IMPORTANT ROLE TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS PLAY IS SINCERELY RESPECTED AND VALUED. THE SCHOOL WOULD SELECT CERTAIN NUMBER OF STUDENTS. WE WOULD GET IT OUT AND SO, WE WOULD THEN BASED ON THE INFORMATION THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED AND COLLECTED, THE COLLECT THE TOP FIVE CANDIDATES. SO, BASED ON THE STAFF RESPONSES, THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION WILL THEN TALLY THE TOP FIVE CANDIDATES. IN BOTH CATEGORIES FOR OUR SUPPORT AND FOR OUR TEACHERS.

N THE TOP FIVE, WOULD THEN BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE STAFF FOR A FINAL VOTE. JUST TO HEAR WHAT THE STUDENTS ARE DOING AND NOT DURING THE PANDEMIC AND WITH ELSE, THESE YOUNG MEN WERE STILL EXCELLING CALVERT COUNTRY AND SEVERAL OTHER SCHOOLS IN THE COMMUNITY. LASTLY, I WAS ABLE TO GO TO A CONFERENCE WHERE THERE WERE OTHER EDUCATORS AND OTHER BOARD MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF MARYLAND.
